Sacramento Mountain Wildfire is seeking experienced individuals to join our engine crews.
Applicants must be FFT1 or higher.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Applicants must be able to pass the Work Capacity Test at the “Arduous” level as defined in Federal Publication PMS 307, Work Capacity Test Administrator’s Guide. This test requires that the applicant complete a 3 mile hike carrying a 45 pound pack over level terrain in 45 minutes or less. This “pack test” will be administered as directed by our facility.
Positions require prolonged standing, walking over uneven ground, and recurring bending, reaching, lifting and carrying of heavy items (over 50 pounds). Risk include smoke inhalation, fire entrapment, snake or insect bites and stings, exposure to excessive noise, falling or rolling material, vehicle and/or equipment accidents, etc.
Positions require travel both in and out-of-state for fire suppression assignments; applicants must be on stand-by status during fire season- 24/7 and be able to join their engine crew within 2 hours of notification of an assignment.
Fire assignments can be for three weeks at a time (plus travel to and from the assignment). Applicant must be willing to work long hours in all weather conditions.
Pay is dependent upon experience and qualifications. Applicants with valid CDL (class A or B) with tanker endorsement are highly sought.
Personnel Protection Equipment and training will be provided as necessary.
