I found this '1956 Lone Star 16' Clipper, dual cockpit in the desert, dug it out of the weeds, cleaned it out, washed it out and am offering it for sale. I have too many projects going on right now plus garage space is tight.
As far as I can tell it was a one year only from internet and forum talk. I found a 1956 Lone Star sales brochure that shows a picture of this boat. The serial # shows XX 456XXX which from what I read means April '56 with the model # the first two digits and the production # the last four. Sold with a NM bill of sale. All Aluminum that wont deteriorate like fiberglass and fairly complete, missing the front seat back corner supports. Will need paint and plywood seats etc. Has the front deck running lights, blue and red, before the CG standardized red and green. Not many of these in circulation.
The trailer is a "Little Dude" C-16. Has ID plate on the tongue. Needs sandblasting, a new ball mount and bunks. The tires look like log splitter tires/wheels and the hub/wheel is one piece. Maybe fit in a new axle and 13" tires will be my plan if nobody wants the opportunity. Sold with a NM bill of sale and don't have a clue about a year. Or maybe apply for homemade title to make it easy.
Has a 1953 Evinrude Big twin 25 hp motor. I was able to ID the year and HP from the serial number. It will spin over but needs work and restoration. Or find another motor, a later model 25 to 35 hp OMC will be a great fit and in my plans. Note the controls for shift and throttle are on the left and the control box appears serviceable but cables are "aged" but the connectors are there. Pulley and cable steering system.
I got a pipe plug and filled it with water to check for leaks, the side seams seep, a coat of glu-vit is the normal procedure to seal these alum boat seams. I found a '14Ft trailer that will need a bit of bunker mod to fit the boat perfect. Asking $700 or make me an offer. Located in Alamogordo, call John @ 575-491-0994.
