I HAVE BEEN FORGETTING TO MENTION THE BACK TIRES ON THIS TRACTOR, THEY ARE NOT LIGHT WEIGHT AG TIRES BUT HEAVY LOADER/ROAD GRADER TIRES. THEY ARE 14.00 X 24" G2/L2, ONE IS 14 PLY RATING AND THE OTHER IS 12.
FOR SALE, a 1964 case 540 tractor. it is not a show tractor, but it could be with very little work, and i have very minimal information about it's history. it is part of the 530 series of Case tractors, a lot of these had backhoes and loaders, and there are many still around. this is not a toy lawn tractor, think it weights about 3500#. i hauled it home on a tandem axle car trailer. it's somewhere around 50 horsepower, with a 159 cubic inch gas engine. i did clean it up a bit and do some painting on it while waiting for parts. did take the starter apart , cleaned, and put in a new nose bearing. the generator probably needs rebuilt. i bought it not running a bout 4 years ago, and finally brought it into the shop this spring to work on it. put a new head gasket it in and a kit in the carb, it seems to run pretty well and has brakes. the number one cylinder has low compression from what i suspect to be stuck rings, as the cylinder walls looked good. am hoping as the engine is run that the rings may free up some? this tractor has 4 speeds and reverse, and a hydraulics system. very heavy rear tires in good condition. i put an aluma seal in the radiator and the leak appears to have stopped?] i do have an original Case book for it, but it has been water damaged over the years. this tractor is heavy built , but it is 59 years old.
