This box measures 12x12x14 and originally held 36 rounds of antiaircraft ammunition. It’s made of properly galvanized steel and has only minor rusting in some small areas. It looks like someone tried to paint it at some point, but paint doesn’t stick to galvanized steel very well so some of the original markings are beginning to show through. The latches are slightly bent but all close properly and stay closed. The gasket is as stiff as one would expect from 80+ year old rubber. There are a few small dents around the bottom corners. It weighs around 25 pounds.

These are somewhat rare because the AA guns that used this ammunition were not the most effective so were mostly phased out pretty early in the war. It’s an interesting artifact, but with a new gasket would probably work well for dry storage for another 80 years. These were made to be stored on deck at sea, so the USN did not cheap out on the zinc.

General Sales Terms:

I only accept cash (US paper currency in reasonable denominations), presented in person at the time of sale. If you feel that my asking price is too high, there is no need to tell me. If it doesn’t sell after a while, I will either lower the price, list the item elsewhere, or donate it. I am not in a hurry to sell anything. I have had issues in the past where a buyer would agree upon a price and then offer less money upon meeting up. Please don’t do this. If you want to buy multiple items at the same time, I may be willing to negotiate before meeting up. I may or may not have change, so either have the exact amount or ask beforehand.

I do my best to provide representative pictures and an accurate description. After reading the description and examining the pictures, feel free to ask for clarification or further details. The information I provide is accurate to the best of my knowledge. My reputation and conscience are worth more to me than whatever I would make ripping people off. That being said, all sales are as-is and final. When applicable and practical, I will demonstrate the function of each item at the time of sale.

I live about 10 miles south of Alamogordo. My house is pretty far off the beaten path, so for smaller items I prefer to meet up somewhere nearby that is more easily accessible. I can also meet up in Alamogordo on some weekdays around either 8 or 3. If you will not be there at the agreed upon time, please be considerate and let me know as early as possible. I will do the same. Once we have a meeting planned I will not sell the item to anyone else.

Thanks,

Daniel
